I'm off for the next two days. I have no pressing plans, so I intend to do some reading and to catch up on a couple of little things around the house and yard. I also have a number of people to pray for and a number of things to pray to God about.
The weather is hot, up over 100 degrees, so it'll be good to work out outside. Twenty-two years ago this month when I joined my first martial arts class, (a Kempo class) I belonged to a motley crew of crazies with whom I spent much more time out of doors than in. We worked out in hundred plus weather routinely and in the winter time we worked out with snow on the ground. I kind of miss that, but I still do the same thing on my own.
I'm always careful to hydrate well, so with the exception of one taxing summer day at work fifteen years ago, I've never had a problem with heat stroke. I learned my lesson that day. I had spent the morning and into the afternoon running through a miles long city park, picking up rental tables and chairs after a boat racing event.
I was on a schedule and neglected taking the time to drink, in fact, not even thinking about it. I paid for it. I got very sick that night after work and began slowly sipping water all evening. I woke up with a whopper of a headache the next day.
You can't catch up on hydration in the morning, which is why a person needs to drink consistently all day and a little more at night. I work all day in this weather around people who get listless and feel like they just can't handle the heat. One of my co-workers the other day actually told the boss it was too hot to go outside and do what she told him to do.
The only thing he drinks is pop. It's liquid, but not good. (Laughing here) Water is what is needed.
My wife and I are off to go grocery shopping. I look forward to the rest of the day and will wait to see what the Lord brings throughout.
21"I will praise You,For You have answered me,And have become my salvation. 22 The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. 23 This was the LORD's doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day the LORD has made;We will rejoice and be glad in it." Ps 118:21-24
