I stopped by the church this afternoon to check on supplies for the 'Food Cupboard,' which is a small outreach ministry for those who are in need of food and basic personal care items in our community.
As heads of that ministry we're basically in charge of keeping the cupboard stocked through donations from ourselves and other church members. The generosity of those who are blessed amazes me. If the cupboard ever gets close to bare, it only takes a brief mention and it is overflowing its capacity, as it is now. I actually had to ask for an announcement once to tell the body to stop giving for a while until the overflow was depleted a bit.
I also got a chance to see the results of the tremendous amount of work that has gone into building and decorating both the fellowship hall and the sanctuary for "Fiesta Vacation Bible School."
They've been working on this for about a month and a half, but only brought the sets and structures together and installed them so as to surprise all the kids. It looks just great. They started today and will go through Friday. The theme is, "Where Kids Are Fired Up About Jesus."
The vacation Bible school grows every year. The kids just seem to love it, and every year children are added to the body of Christ. Praise God!
