I think it's safe to say now that the "Road Map to Peace" has been a very poor plan. For a while I thought (hoped) that maybe President Bush and his administration, along with Russia, the United Nations and the European Union were more shrewd than anyone gave them credit for. I was hoping that their whole plan was to show the world at large that no matter how conciliatory the plan was, and that no matter how much land the Israeli government conceded to the Palestinians, the Palestinians would still demand more and would not be satisfied until they had it all and the Jews were completely displaced or killed.

I could have saved them the trouble, if that had been their plan. I don't believe it ever was though. I truly believe that the leadership of the four nations thought that the plan stood a good chance of working. It hasn't worked. It won't work. The "Road Map" was supposed to have been completed by 2005, and to hear it from political sources, by the end of last year the plan was right on schedule. Heh.

A plan to arrive at peace won't succeed when one of the two partie's stated goals is to wipe the other off the planet. That was the ultimate stated goal of Hamas (the Islamic Resistance Movement) in the past, and they don't appear to have changed their position. If you have any sort of grasp on Middle East politics, it's crystal clear that if the Arab nations were weaponless, there would be peace. It's equally clear that if the Israelis were disarmed, they would be wiped off the planet.

Once again, the Palestinians have sent salvos of rockets into the villages and towns along the Gaza border. The Israeli government will respond with raids and will target areas where terrorist leadership is suspected to be. Hamas leadership (now leading the Palestinian Authority) has made it abundantly clear that Hamas will never accept the existence of the Nation of Israel. Power is the only thing that the Arabs respect. Appeasement just makes them hungrier for more land and less Jews.

I believe that the Jews will stand fast, and that will probably lead to war with the Palestinians. Imagine that. Imagine, that the Israelis would have the nerve not to allow the Palestinians to wipe them out. Even if every Jew on the planet denounced whatever faith or lack of one they held to and pledged to turn to Islam, the Palestinians would still want them wiped out.

The Palestinian bigotry toward the Jewish race will be their downfall. You can't change hearts with M16s. It'll be John 3:16 that changes hearts.
