"It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible. It is impossible to account for the creation of the universe, without the agency of a Supreme Being. It is impossible to govern the universe without the aid of a Supreme Being. It is impossible to reason without arriving at a Supreme Being." (General George Washington, first President of the United States)
"" ..every single concept advanced by the theory of evolution (and amended thereafter) is imaginary and it is not supported by the scientifically established facts of microbiology, fossils, and mathematical probability concepts. Darwin was wrong."" (I.L. Cohen, member of the New York Academy of Sciences, officer of the Archaeological Institute of America, mathematician, researcher and author of the book, "Darwin Was Wrong--A Study in Probabilities)
Given enough time, I think most scientists and philosophers who have no preconceived beliefs or an extra-scientific agenda would arrive at the very logical conclusions which our first president and Mr. Cohen did.
When somebody tosses out the question of God's existence, there are really only two possible responses for people to give. He does exist, or he doesn't exist. In either case, the person answering can only proceed toward their answer with a certain amount of knowledge, and or a certain amount of faith.
The Theory of Evolution denies the need for God, and most of its adherents deny His existence for that reason. Since most, if not all high profile and high level evolutionary scientists agree that there is absolutely no scientific proof for macro-evolution, even in the fossil record, no matter what lesser adherents have been told, believing in the theory requires one to dedicate a certain amount of faith to believe it is true.
In my own experience in life, I recall at a very early age, about five years old, looking up at the stars one warm summer evening and just knowing that they had to be created by someone and that there was a God. God requires faith to please Him. His Word even says so. In my life, His existence has been proven to me scientifically, philosophically, morally and personally. Some people excuse that as simply psychoses, but since God has been proven to me, I see that as just a predetermination on their part.
Can the question of God's existence be proved mathematically? I don't know. Can it be proved through the laws of physics? I don't know that either. But I do believe those things point to His existence. If one isn't decided about the existence of God, the best thing to do is honestly drop any preconceived notions that one has about Him and consider what we can see just for ourselves.
Look at the DNA Double Helix. It's now common knowledge that each molecule of human DNA is made up of chemical bases that are arranged in some 3 billion precise sequences. More information is contained there than could be contained in the books of the largest libraries in the entire world.
Look at the complexity of the digital code which develops a fertilized egg into a living, breathing, human being.
Look at the vast reaches of space, which through the aid of advances like the Hubble Space Telescope, is having its mysteries opened up to our eyes each day, and is appearing day by day to be less and less a disordered expanse, but instead, the result of ordered design.
Look at the nature of the human conscience and at the universal standards of morality and how people all come to the question of God in their lives.
Look..... at those prophecies in the Bible that have been fulfilled. Yes, Bible prophecies. Remember, this examination is to be made without preconceptions or predeterminations.
These are realities that cannot all be resolved in one's mind by shoehorning them into a theory of chaotic or random presentation into existence. When you see a building, you immediately know that there was a builder, a designer. It's the same way with God.
""20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;...."" Romans 1:20
The existence of God is the best explanation for the reality of the universe and everything in it. He's the best way to explain abstract notions like numbers, formulaic mathematics and digital chemical-based processes and natural laws.
He's the best way to explain the digital codes and gross amounts of information contained in, and ordering all functions of life on earth.
And really, what's the alternative to this conclusion? Random chance engineered the highly complex apparent design of life here on earth? Random chaotic elements somehow order themselves into complex informational systems? Really?
You've probably heard the old scenario about a tornado tearing through a junk yard? What are the "chances," that it could leave behind a fully assembled, polished, functional 747 Jet airplane, ready to fly. Woven, matching seat material, carpet, compressed air tanks, jet fuel, transponders, radio equipment, GPS, fire extinguishers, navigational computers, galley, cargo hold, hydraulic systems, rubber tires, safety glass windows and on and on and on. One single celled organism on earth is more complicated than an airplane.
So, can this question of God's existence be answered philosophically or scientifically? In the end, whatever the proof someone says they need for God, it isn't a matter for clinical examination. It must be a personal investigative decision for every individual. The investigation begs to be made by every person. It must be answered one way or the other. A good place to start that examination would be in the book declared to be His word, the Bible. Read it, and see if it answers the question.
