If you're a working person and if you have a boss, I can almost guarantee you that I can supply you with good advice on how to get along great with her/him.
Granted, there are people who for no reason take a dislike to you, but barring that sort of situation, this bit of advice will usually produce a very likely and solid outcome in a situation where you wish to be valued by your superior. Ready? It's pretty simple, so read it twice or even three times.
Work for your boss as though you were working for Jesus.
That's right. Is that possible? Let's consult the Scriptures;
"Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people." Colossians 3:23
I don't think He would tell us to do that if we couldn't do it. Paul made a very good example of a person who worked that way. You want to do the work your boss assigns to you as if he or she were your best friend.
If you're a regular reader of this blog, I encourage you to click on the comments section for yesterday's (8-3-06) first post and read what "shield" posted there. As a foreman, I can assure you that this type of God-ordered thinking will lead "to being indispensable as an employee."

As an employer, I applaud you and Shield for your comments. They are absolutely "right-on" and there are indeed scriptural principles for which we are all responsible as we take our faith into our workplaces.
Thank you for your thoughts!
Thanks guys for your kind comments. I view work as a an exercise in spiritual discipline. Realizing there is no such thing as job security, I also am motivated to do and be the very best that I can so that I set a good example and I am able to provide for my needs. You are doing a good job with this blog seekhm1st. Keep it up. :)
Blessings,
Shield
