Where is God's Kindness in Creation?

Something that I keep running into with people who are seeking is, 'Why did God create the world if He knew it would turn out so badly?" or a variation of that question. A person asked that question of me a couple of nights ago, and I told him that God did not create the world the way that it is. I told him that originally, God created a perfect world, unaffected by the decaying influence of sin.

The general answer to the question though, would be that God created the earth and everything in it for His own glory. The Bible teaches us this, and that He desired to share the life He has in Himself with others. What He has created demonstrated His glory, wisdom, power, love, generosity, goodness and many other wonderful attributes of His character.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork." Psalm 19:1

"5 And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O LORD; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints. 6 For who in the heavens can be compared to the LORD? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the LORD?" Psalm 89:5-6

What usually seems to come next is a question about why God allowed sin? Freedom of choice, is the answer to the question. Both men and angels were created by God without sin, so that they could serve Him as their Creator and glorify Him. Mankind was created in God's image, not only to worship God, but to be compatible with God for fellowship.
God gave man a mind so that he could know God. He gave man a heart in order that man would love Him. As I mentioned, God gave men free will, and in response to God's goodness, with his mind and heart man should choose to follow God in obedience. That isn't always the case however. We aren't automatons. That isn't how God created us, because He wanted true response to His goodness. To do otherwise would have brought Him very little glory, and since we have free will, we are free to choose sin over God.

God is not the cause of sin. It is only through His sovereign will ordained, that the majestic beauty of His plan has unfolded through His foreknowledge and permissive will to allow such choices without Himself being the cause. There are a lot of people that just can't handle it, but it is through His unfolding plan that all of His holy attributes are supremely revealed to us. God had no hand in causing His creation to sin.

God has made generous provision for us so that we can be reconciled to Him. He made it possible for us to overcome sin by the power of the finished work that Jesus did for us on the Cross, having our past present and future sins forgiven, and making it possible for us to fellowship with Him. He made all of this possible by sacrificing what was most precious to Him for us. How is this in any way, unkind?
