I think that the world needs to rebuke Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I have no illusions that that will happen anytime soon, because too much of the world is sympathetic to him.
I have had some discussions with a very liberal-minded hard line anti-American young man from another country who thinks that America's financial aid to Israel is wrong and that the war in Iraq is all about Israel.
I don't think the immense amount of money we give to Israel is wrong at all. I feel God permitted it, as without those funds, that very small nation would not have survived. I would agree with him that the war in Iraq is a direct outgrowth of the fanatical hatred toward Israel of Islamic groups like al-Qa'ida.
When I brought up the subject of the very real threat of President Ahmadinejad, and what he represents, even this radical young man simply admitted that President Ahmadinejad must be mentally unstable. He couldn't take his debate with me any farther after that, because he realized that with Iran's president and others like him out there, Israel has only two choices, which are; defend themselves or get wiped out.
This week's two-day gathering of people in politics and the press from around the world who have an interest in denying the Holocaust has just added more height to the tower of evidence that proves that President Ahmadinejad is driven by his hatred for the Jews.
Most notable for me of those attending the conference are six orthodox Rabbis from the group,"Jews United Against Zionism." These gentlemen believe that Israel should not exist until the Messiah comes.
These men are undoubtedly from the same order of Rabbinical leaders who, in the 1930s said that Israel would not be a nation again until Messiah came. In 1948, these men had to accept that they were wrong. The existence of the nation had then become a fact.
Now they are saying that the nation they believed would never exist "before Messiah comes," are calling for Israel to be dissolved until He does. May God bless them, because of course He did come, and most of Israel missed that fact some 2,000 years ago. These men need a more accurate prophetic perspective.
I can remember watching a broadcast on public television about twenty or so years ago. I think every kid in America should have the opportunity to watch it. It centered around a woman in her forties (if I remember correctly) who had been in one of the concentration camps, lost family members and endured horrific hardships, all because she and her family were Jewish.
At one point in the broadcast, she and her son, who had accompanied her back to the site of the camp, walked to an area at the outer perimeter of the prison. This woman matter of factly stated that that area was where they piled the bodies and incinerated them. She picked up a stick and poked through a thin covering of dirt into a deep layer of ash below. She said something like, "See? This is the ash from the burned up bodies." She was then suddenly overcome with the emotions that had come to the surface and she broke down and wept. Her son simply did not know how to comfort her.
I know one man who was there after the war and witnessed the large piles and bins literally overflowing with eyeglasses that were taken from the victims, and remember, fewer wore glasses than did not. Our own military leaders witnessed the aftermath of Adolph Hitler's madness in the liberation of these camps. American, Australian, British and Canadian soldiers attested to what they had witnessed. The list goes on. No rationally minded person denies that this happened, or that some six million Jewish men, women and children were murdered in the Holocaust.
There has probably never been a time without anti-Semitism in the world, and the world has been trying to kill them off at one time or another as long as they have been around. They have been abused in just about every country on the planet. Desecrations, civil rights violations, pogroms and the Holocaust were all things that motivated the Jewish people to return to the land that had been forever promised to them.
Hopefully, this latest stunt of the nuclear obsessed and irrational Iranian president will only help to motivate world leaders to place some much needed stinging diplomatic sanctions on that nation, but I won't hold my breath.
