There are lots of prophecies in the Old Testament books of the Bible about the Jewish Messiah. Jewish people, generally speaking don't believe that Jesus fulfilled those prophecies however. The Jewish rejection of Him as their long awaited Messiah was foretold in the Psalms. Christians do accept Jesus as the Jewish Messiah. the Anointed One.

The four Gospels of the New Testament, along with the Book of Acts give us a record of the events of Jesus' life after He rose from the dead and also of when He ascended to Heaven. The Book of Revelation is God's account (given to John) of the future events that will come to pass just prior to and actually when Jesus returns to Earth again.

There are different prophecies of Jesus in the O.T., and some of them were about His first coming, as a servant and suffering King. The sacrificial Lamb of God. Jesus came and fulfilled that role and gave mankind a way to be forgiven their sins. We know now from the O.T. that upon His second coming to this planet Jesus will "make and end to sins." In essence, He will return as a conquering King. Because the Jews were an oppressed people, they were looking for a national savior instead of a personal one. That is one of the reasons they probably weren't looking to Jesus as their Messiah.

The O.T. has plenty of prophecies about the Messiah that were fulfilled when Jesus entered the picture two thousand years ago. The O.T. also contains "types" of Christ and prophetic imagery, for example, in the form of Jewish "feast" celebrations like the Passover. There are historic accounts of particular incidents in the lives of the Jewish Patriarchs and other Bible figures which are pictures of things which were to come. Probably every book of the O.T. has something in it that points to Jesus as the Jewish Messiah.

Jesus was the spotless (sinless) "Passover" Lamb of God. He was slain to atone for all the sins of mankind, because He's the only one who has ever lived a sinless life. It isn't necessary any longer for mankind to keep perfectly, all of God's commandments. Jesus did that for us too. It's no longer necessary for mankind to make animal sacrifices in order to receive forgiveness for sins. Jesus gave His life for us on the Cross so that sinful man could have a way to be reconciled to God.

By believing that Jesus died to save us from our sins, anybody who wants to, regardless of the level of sin in their life, can have forgiveness from God. We can enter into His wonderful presence and escape judgment.
