On my lunch hour today I hauled a cord of wood and a firewood rack to my mother's house and unloaded it. I stopped by my house first and told my wife what I was doing and she said she would have a salad ready for me when I returned. I had intended to disconnect the utility trailer full of wood from the pickup and leave it in the driveway to be unloaded later. Unfortunately, I got to her house and discovered that I hadn't thought to bring a jack, and as the trailer was loaded with a lot of weight, I had no alternative but to unload it.
I turned it into a challenge and began to get with it. As I was working, the beauty of the day struck me. The sun was shining, the sky was very blue and even though it was 70 degrees in the early afternoon, I could sense the smells of fall in the air, wet leaves drying in the sun, a hint of fireplace smoke, a change of shadows and an ineffable something in the air that always says 'fall' to me. managed to unload and stack the wood in about half an hour.
After hauling away some things as long as I was there with an empty trailer, I managed to still have time enough to run by my house and gobble the salad my wife had prepared for me. Then it was back to work. Days like this for some reason are special to me. I was really enjoying the day I was having. Just when I thought it couldn't get much nicer, an unsaved co-worker posed a question to me about things spiritual and I had an opportunity to answer his questions for him. I believe a lot of progress was made by the Holy Spirit today in way of removing the obstacle of ignorance between God and this man's soul.
For me, a simple enjoyable day doesn't get much better than this. I am so thankful for a loving God, because on those days when things aren't so enjoyable, I still have Him to cling to, and I still have the joy that He brings to my soul.

We should all take the time to notice and be blessed by the simple things God gives us everyday
