God is so good. It was actually a nice day at work today. All of the help were behaving themselves and actually helped. It didn't hurt a bit either that it was a gorgeous day outside. All of our customers were in fine moods as well. What a contrast from yesterday.
I don't remark that God is good because of the things that I just mentioned. He was good yesterday when I felt like I'd been dropped into an emotional meat grinder. He will be good tomorrow and forever.
We placed an updated job description and a very precisely worded memo in the pay envelopes of each employee, telling them that what has been going on of late will not be allowed to continue, and the boss now has every intention of backing that statement up. That in itself goes a long way toward my having some peace of mind about work and what the environment there will shape up into.
I have never seen grown men act like this. I know I've said it before, but it astonishes me. I guess I've lived a somewhat sheltered life. I also think I must prefer the sheltered life. (Laughing here) Not really though, if I led a sheltered life I'd miss the opportunities I've had to share with others about Jesus.
A couple of guys came into the business and stood at the counter as I wrote up an invoice for them. While they waited they were having a protracted discussion in Spanish about something. I wasn't really paying any attention until I heard some key words and I realized they were politely arguing about "The DaVinci Code."
One of the gentlemen was arguing that the story showed that Jesus was married, while the other countered that that didn't matter. I interjected in English that Jesus was in fact, not married. This caught the two of them by complete surprise, and the first gentleman asked said to me, "You don't think He was married?"
I answered as gently but firmly as I could, "Of course not." He wanted to know why I would say that. I told him that the Bible was clear about that, and that the whole idea of the "Priory of Sion" put forth in Dan Brown's book was something that was phonied up in the 1960's by a French con artist who falsified documents to create a holy "bloodline" connected to Jesus and that Dan Brown knows that. I also told them that Dan Brown himself admitted that the book was fiction.
The second guy was happy to hear all of that and told me that even if Jesus had been married that it wouldn't matter to him, that he still held Him as his Savior. I found that touching, even if a little misguided. The Biblical implications of a Savior and Holy One of Israel Who was married are so warped as to be mind staggering to anyone who knows and understands their Bible.
As I mentioned before, the scriptures are clear that Jesus was not married. In 1 Corinthians 9:5, Paul makes it clear that Peter and the brothers of the Lord had believing wives. The passage also makes it clear that they were not embarrassed about that little fact. Proverbs 18:22 says that, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord."
Jesus wasn't married, and if you look for evidence of it in the Bible you won't find any. You could look for it in Dan Brown's fictional book, if fiction is what you want proof for.
