There still seems to be a lot of angel mania going on today. About ten years ago it was all the rage among unbelievers, mostly new age types and those who fell for their hype. I would even hear believers say things that could have been construed as angel worship.
They are amazing beings of incredible power and sometimes incredible appearance. In 2 Kings 19:35, as Sennacherib threatened to lay siege to the city of Jerusalem, there's an account written about how the angel of the Lord came in the night and slew 185,000 of Sennacherib's Assyrian warriors. Just an angel with nothing to do.
In the Book of Revelation, Chapter 22, the Apostle John speaks of how after meeting an angel of God and hearing the word of God from him and seeing the visions of the future that were presented to him, he fell down to worship at the angel's feet. The angel told him to see to it that he didn't do what he was doing and instead, told John that he was John's fellow servant, and most importantly, that he should worship God.
God is where the power and appearance of angels, or you or I comes from. He created angels and he created us. Think about it. If one then is worshipping an angel for any reason, he is misplacing the honor of the worship. It should go to the Creator of angels, the Waymaker for mankind to go to Heaven.
Nobody would worship me as God. The mere thought is ridiculous. Likewise and just as rightly so, no one should be worshipping another of His creation.
