Revolution of History
When speaking about "end-times" prophecies, I've heard a lot of teachers use phrases like, "Israel is God's prophetic timepiece," or, "As history winds down, it will revolve around Israel." Those are interesting statements, and according to the Bible, Israel, geographically and spiritually will truly be an eventful place, and everyone on the planet will be paying rapt attention to what happens there, and to whom.
The Bible though, is all about Jesus, and it teaches us that it is upon Him that God centered His plan of salvation for the world. Strangely, people tend to let that fact slide into some sort of unconscious reference to the past. He came two-thousand years ago. He died on the cross all those many years ago, and His sacrifice paid for our sins, all those many years ago, but the Book of Revelation makes it clear that not only should His sacrifice be kept in the forefront of everyone's thinking, but that He will gloriously reveal Himself again to mankind, victoriously through His Kingdom, and judgment.
All of history revolves around Jesus Christ. Chapter Five of Revelation provides a glimpse of the imagery of the Savior in the throne room of heaven, referred to with messianic titles, before He returns to earth to rap up history;
"15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
Revelation 19:15,16
In heaven Jesus is worshipped because no one else is worthy, and on earth, soon after, He will compel every knee to bow to Him, not just because He rose from the dead and conquered death and sin, and not just because He is all-powerful and infinitely just, but because of His inescapable goodness. It cannot be forever denied by mankind, and all of mankind will come face-to-face with His goodness, and their response to Him should be their unbridled and complete worship of Him.
Israel, throughout history, has been a colorful and important place. It will continue to be, but history is His story.
