The Book of Revelation discusses a future world leader who will rule over the entire planet. He's pictured as a world ruler simply because of what the plain text says. You don't have to imagine anything, it's pretty obvious, and even though it's a simple concept a lot of people miss it or choose to ignore or spiritualize it. The fact is, the world's governments are slowly coalescing into a unified mass. "Total nonsense. Ain't happenin'." some people will say.
A "New World Order" is a term you hear more and more these days. I remember watching President George H.W. Bush speak in his second presidential campaign about a new world order. I wasn't sure what he meant by that statement. In 1990 he was quoted at a meeting in Finland when he said, "The foundation for the new world order would be laid in Helsinki and it would be established under the United Nations.” That made it a bit more clear for me. At a later news conference he furthered the statement by saying, "If the nations of the world, acting together, continue as they have been we will set in place the cornerstone of an international order more peaceful than any that we have known." Sounds pretty innocuous, even desirable.
In 1988 Mikhail Gorbachev, then Prime Minister of the former Soviet Union addressed the United Nations and said, "Further global progress is now possible only through a quest for universal consensus in the movement towards a new world order."
Lots of popular (mostly liberal theologians) church pastors are outright globalists today. Rick Warren, in a letter to Joseph Farah, stated that he is a member of both the Council on Foreign Relations and Oxford Analytica. Those two organizations are both known for being anti-Jesus and also favorably disposed to a one-world government. How unfortunate. I wonder if he realizes this?
The new world order that many of these men talk about is a concept in which they place their hopes to bring the governments of the world into a type of peaceful coexistence. It won't work though, because there are too many conflicting ideologies in the world, and the only "peaceful" way to make them get along will be through an evil socialistic brand of oppression. How else could it be enforced? The European Union has already begun its own efforts toward that end, much to the dismay of folks like former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who declared it to be just another in a long list of bad European ideologies, likening it to Hitler's third Reich, a very bad thing. Smart lady.
Hitler's third Reich was only the last of a list of several European ideologies that have, since the collapse of the Roman Empire, been an attempt to revive it. Justinian, Charlemagne, Charles V, and a bunch of different guys tried to raise it up time after time through force, and there was always a tie which bound them to the church. That ecclesiastical connection is why each attempt at revival of the Roman empire is prefixed with the word, "holy."
The fourth "Reich" is already on the way. The European Union, (at a sponsored event) has stated now, that it is the "Roman Empire Revived." Are people alarmed? Don't seem to be. As believer, I'm not alarmed. I've been studying this stuff for many years, and the Scriptures speak plainly of events that will center around Israel, and a false peace proposed by this emperor to be. So we know all of this right? What does that mean? Does it mean we should be hoarding supplies? Buying land in the boonies, where we can raise our own vegetables? I Think what is means for us is that these future events have been shown to us by revelation from God to His holy prophets. Yup, He did. And He also gave us the job of Sonship to be about until He comes back for us, and we should be doing it.
I believe that He didn't want us to be in the dark and therefore ignorant about the urgency of the need for us to be sharing Jesus with whomever we can. My read on Scripture tells me that if I am still alive when these events start to really get rolling, that I'm going to get taken out of here to be with Jesus, so why should I worry? I shouldn't. But by having the knowledge that Jesus died for my sins so that I could repent of them and be forgiven for them in faith, my love for Him should drive me to love others enough to make sure that they know they need to repent of their sins too, so that the coming new world order is something that they won't ever be involved in.

You need to repent of this blasphemy and seek God's forgiveness for it.
