I'm no prophet, but I do have an eschatological viewpoint, based on the revelatory word of God. I believe that the majority of those who love the Jesus of the Bible are going through their sojourn on earth with an abstract view of the fact that God is not yet done with Israel, and that God's plan for redemptive history centers around that little nation.
It is my belief that President Bush falls into that category. U. S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and German Chancellor and EU rotational President Angela Merkel have now met and discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and their intentions to revive the Quartet for Mid-East peace. Bad idea. Giving away Israel's land for peace has always been a bad idea. It simply gave the Palestinians license to have weapons legally.
I don't mean to slam the President by saying this. For one thing, doing so would not only be Biblically prohibited but it would probably be counter-productive as well. I think the harder one pushed the President about it, the harder he would probably resist the notion that "land for peace" is a misguided notion. The thing to do would be to devote time to prayer and fasting, asking God to guide our President to move away from this policy. Only God can reveal His unfolding plan of redemptive history to President Bush. I believe it's imperative, because I believe that God does not approve of our participation in the quartet, or its ultimate goal.
I also think it's imperative because we have little time left in this presidency, and I don't even want to think
about what will break loose if we end up with a Democratic, Liberal President in control of a Democratically led House and Senate. Most Democrats just seem to be in love with whatever European Union or United Nations ideology comes along concerning Israel. It never seems to amaze me that wise or unwise, whatever Israel does to defend itself is condemned consistently by the E.U. and the U.N..
We have a situation now where Israel is going to have to defend themselves, maybe with small tactical nukes, from an ever-threatening Iranian neighbor whose President has publicly stated that he wants Israel removed from existence. Praise the God of heaven that He has let us know that that will not happen. God loves Israel, and so do I. Israel is far from perfect, and so am I, but God has saved me from His wrath for my sins, and someday Israel will reconcile with Him too.
