I had an interesting conversation last night with a young man from another country who congratulated me on the election Tuesday, giving control of both houses to the Democratic Party. He went on to tell me that the "world" had a little more respect for our country now.
I told him that I didn't place my hopes in a political party or process, because they would always let you down.
The conversation then began to boil down into a process where he made attempt after attempt to provoke me, to the point where he told me I was not a Christian and that I was making up Scriptures to suit myself.
This is often the case when the Scriptures speak plainly to those who don't want to hear what they have to say. Willful ignorance of something that is plainly spoken by God in His Word is one of the things that's been getting mankind in trouble since the beginning, even when the only Scriptures consisted of, "..... Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
It doesn't matter if there is one sentence of Scripture or ten-thousand. Ignoring God's Word doesn't make it go away.
